We are incredibly proud to see the Gigha emergency helipad proving its worth just one year. In remote communities where a three-hour drive and ferry crossing are the only links to the mainland, 24/7 aerial access isn't just a convenience—it is a lifeline.
As the supplier to this landmark project, FEC Heliports Worldwide Limited provided the HEMS-Station® Solar Plus lighting system and solar powered illuminated wind direction indicator. These autonomous, solar-powered solutions ensure that Scotland’s Charity Air Ambulance (SCAA) and Coastguard crews can land safely at any hour, regardless of weather or ground conditions.
Since becoming operational in December 2024, this facility has already supported roughly 15 life-saving missions, reducing transfer times to major trauma centres to under 30 minutes. It has been an honour to collaborate with the HELP Appeal, the Corps of Royal Engineers, and the Isle of Gigha Heritage Trust to turn a previously unusable grass strip into a world-class emergency asset.
